US Stocks AI Daily on Oct 22, 2026: Nvidia Prepays $1.1B to Expand US Test Capacity

The AI supply chain filled all six layers for a second issue running on October 21. Only two figures came from the companies themselves: the $1.1B capacity reservation advance Nvidia (Ticker: NVDA) gave King Yuan Electronics at GTC Berlin, and the $1B Series A at the AI lab Flapping Airplanes. The first leads because that is money actually changing hands, and what it bought is capacity in packaging and test.

Today's Takeaway

The $1.1B Nvidia (Ticker: NVDA) committed is a capacity reservation advance rather than a purchase order, so the money moves first and the capacity follows: the new King Yuan test site only reaches high-volume production in April 2027 and the Amkor (Ticker: AMKR) interposer expansion runs to the end of 2028. Counted deal value this issue is $2.1B with $0 excluded, and the excluded column is empty not because there was no capital spending today but because none of it carries a complete figure, since IBIDEN would only say several billion dollars and Terafab gave a floor. The buyer funding upstream capacity moves the financing risk of that expansion back onto itself.

How to use this next time: when you see the word advance, work out whether it buys goods or capacity. The $1.1B here buys test capacity that only opens in April 2027 rather than product you can take today, so the thing to track is whether that date holds. In the same release IBIDEN would only say several billion dollars, and a commitment with no number can be neither counted nor excluded, only marked undisclosed.
