For years now, the Coachella Music Festival has taken place over two weekends every spring outside of Palm Springs. The same artists turn up for both events – or, at least that’s usually the case – in order to make the weekends nearly the same.

Jack White was one of the only artists who did not head to Coachella twice this year. He was on the bill for weekend one, but Kacey Musgraves took over his spot for weekend two just before the festival started up again.

Like so many other musical acts performing in Indio, White released new music so he’d be able to ride the wave of media coverage and have something exciting to play to his large crowd. Earlier in April, White delivered the double single “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” and “Derecho Demonico.” The first of those tracks debuts on one sales chart in the United Kingdom, and as it arrives, it returns the Grammy winner to his all-time career high.

Jack White’s “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” Debuts Inside the Top 10

“G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” launches on one list in the U.K. this frame, the Official Physical Singles chart. The tune kicks off its time at No. 4, immediately earning White his fourth top 10 smash and sixth overall appearance on the rundown.

Jack White Matches His Own Career High

White is likely thrilled with a new top 10 hit to his credit, though the No. 4 placement of “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” may be a bit frustrating. No. 4 is as high as White has risen on the Official Physical Singles chart, and it’s a slot he has settled into multiple times.

“Another Way to Die,” White’s first win on the ranking of the top-selling tunes available on physical formats like CD, cassette, and vinyl, took the rocker and Alicia Keys to No. 4 back in November 2008. White returned to that spot in 2018 with “Connected by Love.” That track stood as his latest debut before this frame, as it’s been eight years since last White collected a bestseller.

Another song, “Freedom at 21,” is White’s sole top 10 to peak in a position other than No. 4. That smash rocked its way to No. 8 during its run. Another pair of cuts, “I’m Shakin’” and “Sixteen Saltines,” only ever found their way to Nos. 24 and 35, respectively.

Raye and Hans Zimmer Debut at No. 1

White claims the second-loftiest debut on the Official Physical Singles chart this week. “Click Clack Symphony,” featured on Raye’s latest album This Music May Contain Hope, which also credits famed composer Hans Zimmer, launches at No. 1. Two former champions, “Where Is My Husband?” — another Raye smash — and “Swim” by BTS, bolt to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

Just one more song, “Rough and Twisted” by Cockroaches, launches inside the highest tier. That track begins at No. 6, with “Nightingale Lane,” yet another Raye single, separating White and Cockroaches.

Jack White’s “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” Surges

Last week, “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” managed an early start on the Official Singles Sales chart, as it was released in the middle of a tracking period. In its second turn on that tally, White’s latest leaps from No. 67 to a new high of No. 26. That large jump helps “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” become the former White Stripes frontman’s highest-rising hit. His only other appearance on the U.K.’s busiest song sales tally, “Don’t Hurt Yourself” with Beyoncé, topped out at No. 31 almost exactly a decade ago.
