Frantic Ron DeSantis 'begging' for a job — any job — in Trump's admin: report

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is looking for a way into President Donald Trump's administration, Axios reported — and he's interested in a number of different positions.

"President Trump has told confidants that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is 'begging' for a job in Trump's administration — including attorney general," said the report. The firebrand two-term governor "also has expressed interest in being secretary of defense and even a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court, according to six sources briefed on the discussions."

This comes as DeSantis is termed out of the governor's mansion — and, according to one source, he is now "looking for what to do next" when his term expires.

DeSantis, who has reshaped much of Florida politics in his own image despite a bumpy relationship with the legislature in the latter half, has a long and complicated relationship with the president.

It was Trump's endorsement that propelled DeSantis to the governorship in the first place, defeating then-Agriculture Secretary Adam Putnam for the nomination. The two were close allies for years, but their good rapport fell apart when they both ran for president in the 2024 GOP primary, with both lobbing insults at each other on the regular.

After Trump consolidated the GOP base and was voted back into office, the two worked to repair their relationship, but Trump harbored long-term vendettas against some lawmakers who had endorsed DeSantis for president over him.
