The Invincible Season 4 finale is finally here after weeks of anticipation, with a quieter, more emotional ending that sets the stage for what’s next. Now, fans are already wondering: how long will they have to wait for Season 5, and could it be as long as some of the previous seasons?

Based on the award-winning comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Invincible follows 17-year-old Mark Grayson, the son of Omni-Man, the world’s most powerful superhero. In Season 4, Invincible and the rest of the show’s heroes faced off against dangerous new villains, including Thragg, Dinosaurus and Universa.

“While the world recovers from catastrophe, a changed Mark fights to protect his home and the people he loves, setting him on a collision course with a threat that could alter the fate of humanity forever,” Prime Video teased about the latest season. “With the stakes and threats raised even higher this season, Invincible, Atom Eve, and the Guardians of the Globe must save the world.”

Without revealing spoilers, the Invincible Season 4 finale, titled “Don’t Leave Me Hanging Here,” sets up several storylines for Season 5. The episode also includes a post-credits scene that hints at what’s ahead, teasing bigger threats and leaving fans with more questions than ever. The full episode is now streaming on Prime Video.

While previous finales were known for their large-scale, bloody battles, this one takes a different approach, with Collider noting that “Season 4’s big battle is simply a conversation — an intense one, with no blood drawn outside of Mark’s hallucinations.” As fans look ahead to Season 5, here’s everything to know about the next chapter and future seasons.

Yes, Invincible will return for a fifth season on Prime Video. The series received an early renewal for Season 5 back in July of 2025.

As for where the show will go after Season 5, Kirkman told The Direct last year that he tries “to answer this question differently every time.” He estimated that there could be anywhere from seven to nine seasons of Invincible, and he added that he hopes they “get to go for 11 seasons or more.”

Invincible has a star-studded voice cast, and most are expected to return for Season 5. Leading the lineup are Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh and J.K. Simmons, alongside Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, Zachary Quinto, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ross Marquand, Khary Payton, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson, Ben Schwartz, Clancy Brown, Jay Pharoah, Mark Hamill and Melise Jow.

Deadline reported last year that Matthew Rhys would be joining the cast in an undisclosed role for the fourth season. The Beast in Me actor eventually made his debut as the villain Dinosaurus.

The release date for Invincible Season 5 has not yet been announced. The good news is that fans won’t have to wait as long for new episodes as they did between previous seasons. (Seasons 1 and 2 had a two-and-a-half-year gap, which has thankfully gotten shorter with the releases of Seasons 3 and 4.)

Invincible’s co-creator confirmed to Collider in March that the show is already in the post-production stage, and some elements of Season 5 were completed years ago.

“The voice recording is done first, so that was done years ago. It’s crazy. We were talking the other day about how we were working on Season 5 kind of while we were still promoting Season 2. So, it stacks so much,” Kirkman told the site, adding that they’re not stopping work on the show “until everyone on this production is burnt out.”

When asked whether Season 5 could arrive in March 2027, around the same timeframe as Season 4’s release, Kirkman offered a promising response.

“I think that a pattern has formed, but I can’t confirm anything. Maybe it will be April,” he said, while clarifying that no release date has been set.

“Maybe May. Maybe January. I don’t know. Who knows? We’ll see,” he continued. “But I would say that the goal is to is to come back in this general timeframe.” The showrunner added that they’re already pretty far along with Season 5 and feels like “we’re in good shape.”
