Gemini launched Agentic Trading to connect AI models with crypto trading accounts through the MCP open standard. The feature lets users automate market checks, trade execution, and risk steps through predefined strategies. The launch positions Gemini more deeply within the fast-growing link between AI tools and digital asset markets.
Gemini introduced Agentic Trading as a direct trading tool inside its regulated U.S. exchange platform. The feature allows users to connect models such as ChatGPT and Claude to their Gemini accounts. It also gives users a structured way to use AI for market activity.
The exchange said Agentic Trading can monitor markets and place trades through set user instructions. Besides execution, the system can manage risk based on predefined rules. This gives users more control over strategy while AI handles repeatable trading tasks.
Gemini built the feature through MCP, an open standard first developed by Anthropic. The standard links AI agents with external tools and APIs. Gemini connected its full trading API to MCP for broader account functions.
Agentic Trading includes Trading Skills, which are modular functions that AI models can call during trading. One function, Find the Spread, checks bid-ask spreads across trading pairs. Another function, Retrieve Candles, pulls historical price data for market analysis.
These tools support pattern checks, backtesting, and trade preparation across crypto markets. Moreover, Gemini plans to add more Trading Skills over time. The exchange aims to make Agentic Trading more useful for strategy execution.
The feature arrives as agentic AI expands across crypto infrastructure. Coinbase has backed the x402 protocol for AI-based crypto payments. Tempo is developing a machine payments standard for automated transactions.
Gemini launched Agentic Trading after a difficult period for its public market performance. The company went public late last year, but its shares have fallen sharply. The stock has also traded below $4 in recent weeks. That level marked its weakest point since its Sept. 12 debut at $28. Gemini continues to expand product lines as trading activity remains soft.
The company also reshaped its leadership team after several executive exits. Its CFO, COO, and CLO departed amid rising corporate expenses. Agentic Trading adds a new growth angle as Gemini pushes AI into crypto markets.
