Hello!

It’s the middle of a heavy news week and we at the newsroom have barely had time to catch our breath.

From a second Sara Duterte impeachment to habulan (chase scene) at the vaunted Senate, it’s been a crazy first half of the week already.

But here at the midway point, I look back and marvel at the newsroom teamwork that has always made Rappler an exciting place to work.

Our reporters Jairo Bolledo and Patrick Cruz, together with production specialists Franz Lopez and Randall Rosales were in the House of Representatives and Senate, respectively, last Monday. They juggled the extremely complex tasks of observing, analyzing, and verifying the impeachment of the second highest official of the land, a Senate coup, and a standoff between the Senate and the National Bureau of Investigation — all while sending back to our team videos, article drafts, and blow-by-blow updates to the Rappler app (check Philippine Politics chat room for the action).

Meanwhile, back in Pasig City, our team of Community Growth specialists Ivy Pedida, Sab Go, led by Kaye Cabal, were putting out art cards and promotions on social media to tell everyone the kind of top quality information the coverage team was bringing in.

Our editors, like Herbie Gomez, Mia Gonzalez, and Acor Arceo, were approving titles and captions, and turning drafts into published pieces that informed our readers of what was unfolding. Our producers Jaira Roxas, Camille Zarate, and Genno Rabaya, led by JC Gotinga, were publishing video clips, and reporter recaps, and manning livestreams, so Rappler viewers themselves could monitor and witness the situation. These clips were polished by our video editors Emerald Hidalgo and Jaene Zaplan.

Bringing you the news the Rappler way takes a village. It is a work of love and dedication by many people, each contributing their skill, their knowledge, and their smarts.

At our newsroom, we firmly believe our community deserves, not just peanuts, but a feast of information, served in well-curated dishes, with the entire nutrient chart present.

It is for this dedicated team that I ask for your help in our goal to get 3,000 new Rappler+ Annual members by June 3. This is part of our #ChooseClarity membership drive that we launched on May 3, World Press Freedom Day.

It takes a village to deliver top-quality news. And it takes a village to keep a fiercely independent newsroom alive.
