FOMC Meeting December 2025 Schedule, Key Expectations and Interest Rate Outlook

Crypto market participants await next week’s FOMC Meeting, one of the most crucial events to set the direction for global markets. During the scheduled two-day meeting of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC), officials will decide on the Fed rate cut, economic projection for the coming months, and the potential start of quantitative easing (QE).

Bitcoin climbs over 7% to reclaim $93K as gold holds its advance above $4,200 amid almost 90% odds of another 25 bps Fed rate cut. Moreover, expectations of White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett’s nomination as Fed Chair further boosted the dovish outlook for Fed rate cuts.

Investors will closely watch Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s press conference for any guidance to confirm market direction. Here’s where one can watch these key FOMC Meeting events live.

Key Macroeconomic Events Ahead of FOMC Meeting

Inflation remains above the Fed’s 2% target despite recent rate cuts, with tariffs and the longest government shutdown raising concerns over US economic conditions.

The recent jobs data showed an improving US labor market, with next week’s JOLTs Job Openings as key jobs data to watch ahead of the FOMC meeting. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the US economy remained resilient and likely to accelerate in Q1 next year. Notably, the end of the Federal Reserve’s quantitative tightening (QT) could further improve the financial system and liquidity in the markets.

Markets remain cautious as the FOMC watches for signs of renewed inflation pressures or economic slowdown. Market participants closely monitored Fed officials’ comments for cues on monetary policy.

Notably, the September PCE inflation data on Friday could significantly shift the FOMC decision on Fed rate cut in December. Currently, the CME FedWatch tool shows 87% odds of a 25 bps rate cut by the central bank in December, bringing the target range to 3.50%-3.75%.

FOMC Meeting, Jerome Powell’s Press Conference: Date, Time, and Where to Watch

The FOMC meeting and Jerome Powell’s press conference will stream live on the Federal Reserve’s official website and its YouTube channel. Investors awaiting the details of monetary policy proceedings can watch the FOMC decision at 2:00 PM ET on December 10.

After the meeting, Fed Chair Jerome Powell will host a press conference at 2:30 PM ET. Powell will disclose economic projections for the coming months and his stance on potential rate cuts in 2026.

The Fed will also publish a statement, implementation note, and projection materials from the press conference on its website under the FOMC meeting calendar and information section.

Meanwhile, Wall Street Journal White House Economic Policy reporter Brian Schwartz revealed that Trump cancelled a meeting with Fed chair contenders. President Trump said he’s selected his choice to replace current Fed Chair Jerome Powell, with Kevin Hassett leading the race.

How Will Bitcoin and Crypto Market Move?

Popular analyst Michael van de Poppe claimed Bitcoin and the crypto market will face volatility. Another 25 bps Fed rate cut could trigger a rally towards $100K. However, he quoted the Fed rate cut to be a “good start” for the month, as Bitcoin price has reclaimed $93K. The end of QT is expected to bring more liquidity into risk assets.

As CoinGape reported, the US Federal Reserve (FED) injected $13.5 billion overnight into the financial system. This follows $25 billion in liquidity injection in the morning repo operation as QT ended.

Meanwhile, analyst Ted Pillows predicts the crypto market could crash first amid hints that the QE may start. “QE doesn’t happen until there are big cracks in the economy,” he added.

Bitcoin ending the week in $93,000-$94,000 zone will push Bitcoin towards $100,000. However, a rejection could send the price towards the $88,000-$89,000 level.
