TLDR:

  • Valora team joins Stripe to strengthen blockchain and stablecoin infrastructure globally.
  • The Valora app returns to cLabs, maintaining continuity for its existing user base.
  • Stripe gains mobile-first crypto engineering expertise for faster on-chain payments.
  • The acquisition aligns both companies’ goals for broader financial access worldwide.

Stripe Acquires Valora Team in a move that strengthens its ongoing blockchain expansion. The payments company is absorbing the developers responsible for the Celo-based Valora wallet, while the application and its intellectual property return to cLabs.

This transition places Stripe in a stronger position to scale its stablecoin and on-chain payment initiatives.

In a recent blog post, Valora founder Jackie Bona outlines a planned shift that separates product ownership from the engineering group.

The team will contribute directly to Stripe’s crypto efforts, while cLabs resumes stewardship of the consumer product. Both organizations frame the move as a continuation of their long-standing priorities around accessible digital payments.

Stripe Acquires Valora Team to Advance Stablecoin Strategy

Stripe Acquires Valora Team as it seeks to accelerate its work on blockchain-based settlement systems.

According to Bona, the decision emerged after assessing how Stripe’s global infrastructure aligns with the team’s original mission. She stated that the company “shares our conviction that stablecoins and crypto can dramatically expand who gets to participate in the global economy.”

Her message also referenced the group’s experience with real-world usage. Bona explained that the team had “seen firsthand how access to stablecoins and crypto rails can expand economic opportunity,” a point that shaped the transition.

The integration places experienced mobile-first crypto engineers inside Stripe’s expanding blockchain division.

This arrangement supports Stripe’s broader push for faster global money movement.

The addition of the Valora team gives Stripe deeper technical resources in areas involving stablecoin transfers, mobile asset management, and user-centric crypto design. These capabilities fit into Stripe’s growing suite of digital asset tools.

Valora App Returns to cLabs While Stripe Absorbs the Engineering Group

Stripe Acquires Valora Team while the Valora application returns to cLabs, the organization that originally supported the product before it was spun out.

Bona said the return was appropriate because cLabs “is best positioned to support its continued growth,” given its alignment with the Celo ecosystem and its existing community relationships.

The separation of the product and the team keeps the app operational under familiar leadership. This structure ensures that Valora users continue to access the mobile wallet without service disruption.

Meanwhile, the engineering group shifts focus to Stripe’s blockchain roadmap rather than direct app management.

Bona thanked users, partners, investors, and team members for supporting the project through multiple phases.

She noted that the handover “marks the close of one incredible chapter and the start of an even more exciting one,” signaling continuity for both the product at cLabs and the team now joining Stripe.

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
