Gold Hits ATH Near $4,500 — What It Means for Bitcoin

Gold Hits New Record High at $4,486 Amid Rate Cut Speculation

Gold price has surged to a new all-time high (ATH), trading at $4,486 an ounce for the first time, according to CoinCodex.

The rally reflects growing investor expectations that the US Federal Reserve will implement further interest rate cuts next year, analysts say, fueling demand for the precious metal as a safe haven asset.

Gold started the year at $2,600 an ounce but has surged 72.5%, its biggest annual jump since 1979, driven by geopolitical tensions, Trump-era trade tariffs, and rate-cut speculation, says Adrian Ash of BullionVault.

As expectations for lower interest rates rise, traditional investments like bonds yield less, pushing investors toward alternatives that balance returns with diversification. Gold, silver, and other commodities have become top choices for risk-averse investors navigating financial uncertainty.

Well, Global central banks are driving gold’s rally by expanding their physical holdings to hedge against economic volatility, reduce reliance on the US dollar, and diversify reserves. Goldman Sachs forecasts that central bank buying will continue through 2026, providing sustained support for the market.

Notably, surging demand from private and institutional investors, fueled by geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, is driving gold to record highs. Analysts are now watching closely to see if this momentum holds amid shifting global interest rates and evolving trade dynamics.

Therefore, gold’s 2025 record-breaking rally reinforces its status as a reliable hedge against economic uncertainty. Despite ongoing price volatility, the metal’s appeal remains strong amid low interest rates, geopolitical tensions, and evolving global monetary policies.

What Gold’s Record-Breaking Price Means for Bitcoin

Gold’s historic price leap has mixed implications for Bitcoin. Often called ‘digital gold’ because of its capped supply and decentralised nature, Bitcoin can move with gold during market stress as investors hunt inflation hedges, but the correlation is imperfect, and short-term liquidity and risk-sentiment swings can send the two assets in different directions.

Specifically, the gold rally may prompt some investors to shift capital from riskier assets, including cryptocurrencies, toward the stability of gold, creating short-term pressure on Bitcoin.

Yet, Bitcoin’s rise as an alternative asset could benefit from the same macroeconomic forces, inflation, geopolitical tensions, and market uncertainty, positioning it as a complementary hedge and supporting long-term demand.

While gold’s record highs signal investor caution, Bitcoin’s decentralized, finite supply makes it an appealing alternative for diversifying beyond fiat and traditional commodities. Rising institutional interest and growing ETF adoption suggest Bitcoin could remain resilient even as gold steals the spotlight.

Well, gold’s historic rally signals both caution and opportunity for Bitcoin. While some capital may shift to gold for short-term stability, persistent inflation, currency risks, and financial uncertainty continue to bolster Bitcoin’s case as ‘digital gold.’

Investors now face a balancing act of harnessing gold’s safety while exploring crypto’s long-term growth and diversification potential.

Conclusion

Gold’s surge to $4,486 an ounce underscores its lasting role as a safe haven amid economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and changing interest rate expectations. Rising demand from investors and central banks reinforces its dual role as both a risk hedge and a strategic diversification asset.

While gold’s surge may briefly divert focus from riskier assets, Bitcoin’s role as ‘digital gold’ makes it a strategic hedge in today’s volatile, inflation-prone economy. For investors, rising gold prices signal both caution and opportunity, underscoring the value of portfolio diversification and the long-term potential of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Has Taken Gold’s Role In Today’s World, Eric Trump Says

Eric Trump on Tuesday described Bitcoin as a “modern-day gold,” calling it a liquid store of value that can act as a hedge to real estate and other assets. Related Reading: XRP’s Biggest Rally Yet? Analyst Projects $20+ In October 2025 According to reports, the remark came during a TV appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, tied to the launch of American Bitcoin, the mining and treasury firm he helped start. Company Holdings And Strategy Based on public filings and company summaries, American Bitcoin has accumulated 2,443 BTC on its balance sheet. That stash has been valued in the low hundreds of millions of dollars at recent spot prices. The firm mixes large-scale mining with the goal of holding Bitcoin as a strategic reserve, which it says will help it grow both production and asset holdings over time. Eric Trump’s comments were direct. He told viewers that institutions are treating Bitcoin more like a store of value than a fringe idea, and he warned firms that resist blockchain adoption. The tone was strong at times, and the line about Bitcoin being a modern equivalent of gold was used to frame American Bitcoin’s role as both miner and holder.   Eric Trump has said: bitcoin is modern-day gold — unusual_whales (@unusual_whales) September 16, 2025 How The Company Went Public American Bitcoin moved toward a public listing via an all-stock merger with Gryphon Digital Mining earlier this year, a deal that kept most of the original shareholders in control and positioned the new entity for a Nasdaq debut. Reports show that mining partner Hut 8 holds a large ownership stake, leaving the Trump family and other backers with a minority share. The listing brought fresh attention and capital to the firm as it began trading under the ticker ABTC. Market watchers say the firm’s public debut highlights two trends: mining companies are trying to grow by both producing and holding Bitcoin, and political ties are bringing more headlines to crypto firms. Some analysts point out that holding large amounts of Bitcoin on the balance sheet exposes a company to price swings, while supporters argue it aligns incentives between miners and investors. Supporters praise the prospect of a US-based miner that aims to be transparent and aggressive about building a reserve. Critics point to governance questions, possible conflicts tied to high-profile backers, and the usual risks of a volatile asset being held on corporate balance sheets. Eric Trump’s remark that Bitcoin has taken gold’s role in today’s world reflects both his belief in its value and American Bitcoin’s strategy of mining and holding. Whether that view sticks will depend on how investors and institutions respond in the months ahead. Featured image from Meta, chart from TradingView

Banxico seen cutting rates to 7.50% in September – Reuters

Banxico seen cutting rates to 7.50% in September – Reuters

The post Banxico seen cutting rates to 7.50% in September – Reuters appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. All 24 economists surveyed expect Banxico to lower rates despite inflation ticking up to 3.57% in August. Bank of America notes Banxico could ease more aggressively if Fed cuts continue and Dollar weakness persists. Banco de Mexico (Banxico), Mexico’s central bank is expected to reduce its main reference rate by 25 basis points to 7.50% on September 26, revealed a Reuters poll. Reuters poll shows unanimous expectations for a 25 bps cut, with analysts eyeing further easing into November The survey showed that all 24 economists see Banxico’s cutting rates, as inflation edged slightly up to 3.57% from 3.51% but it remains within the 3% plus or minus 1% range. In the last meeting, the bank cut rates on a 4 to 1 vote split with Deputy Governor Jonathan Heath voting to hold rates unchanged as inflation was well above the 4% threshold in the previous month’s print. Analysts at Bank of America wrote on a note that “Banxico is likely to continue cutting rates well below market expectations as long as the Fed cuts and the US Dollar remains weak.” Recently released data showed that lower than expected growth in Q2 and “relatively” contained inflation last month, justified gradual easing by Banxico. When asked of the date of the Mexican central bank’s reduction, 19 of 24 analysts answered September, with high expectations that another 25-bps cut is expected in November, as said by a majority of 16 economists. Banxico FAQs The Bank of Mexico, also known as Banxico, is the country’s central bank. Its mission is to preserve the value of Mexico’s currency, the Mexican Peso (MXN), and to set the monetary policy. To this end, its main objective is to maintain low and stable inflation within target levels – at or close to its target of 3%, the…

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach

The post UK Looks to US to Adopt More Crypto-Friendly Approach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. The UK and US are reportedly preparing to deepen cooperation on digital assets, with Britain looking to copy the Trump administration’s crypto-friendly stance in a bid to boost innovation.  UK Chancellor Rachel Reeves and US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent discussed on Tuesday how the two nations could strengthen their coordination on crypto, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.  The discussions also involved representatives from crypto companies, including Coinbase, Circle Internet Group and Ripple, with executives from the Bank of America, Barclays and Citi also attending, according to the report. The agreement was made “last-minute” after crypto advocacy groups urged the UK government on Thursday to adopt a more open stance toward the industry, claiming its cautious approach to the sector has left the country lagging in innovation and policy.  Source: Rachel Reeves Deal to include stablecoins, look to unlock adoption Any deal between the countries is likely to include stablecoins, the Financial Times reported, an area of crypto that US President Donald Trump made a policy priority and in which his family has significant business interests. The Financial Times reported on Monday that UK crypto advocacy groups also slammed the Bank of England’s proposal to limit individual stablecoin holdings to between 10,000 British pounds ($13,650) and 20,000 pounds ($27,300), claiming it would be difficult and expensive to implement. UK banks appear to have slowed adoption too, with around 40% of 2,000 recently surveyed crypto investors saying that their banks had either blocked or delayed a payment to a crypto provider.  Many of these actions have been linked to concerns over volatility, fraud and scams. The UK has made some progress on crypto regulation recently, proposing a framework in May that would see crypto exchanges, dealers, and agents treated similarly to traditional finance firms, with…
