NAGA CITY, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met for the first time since the 2022 elections with his two-time political rival, former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, on Saturday, February 21.
The meeting came days after Vice President Sara Duterte signaled her 2028 presidential ambitions, sparking speculation about a possible political alliance. Marcos and Robredo dismissed any such alliance, saying the president’s visit was strictly to inspect Naga City’s flood mitigation efforts.
Naga City was among the hardest-hit areas during Severe Tropical Storm Kristine in 2024, despite having received P283.3 million in flood control funding between 2022 and 2024. – Rappler.com
