  • Chainalysis has launched AI-driven agents designed to streamline crypto investigations and compliance workflows.
  • The tools aim to replicate analyst-level reasoning while improving speed and accessibility for non-technical users.
  • The move comes amid rising AI adoption by both investigators and criminal actors, intensifying competition in the space.

Chainalysis has revealed a new set of AI-powered “blockchain intelligence agents” intended to accelerate the investigation of crypto-related crime and improve compliance capabilities. The company presented the tools at its Links conference in New York, describing them as functioning similarly to human investigators but operating at machine speed.

The agents differ from conventional AI applications by focusing on investigative reasoning rather than simple text-based responses, enabling users to navigate complex blockchain data more effectively. A phased rollout is scheduled to begin in summer, initially targeting investigative and compliance functions.

Jonathan Levin, the firm’s co-founder and CEO, said the initiative reflects a shifting landscape in which malicious actors are increasingly using AI to expand their activities. He emphasised the importance of equipping investigators with comparable technological capabilities to counter these threats.

Built into the existing Chainalysis platform, the agents will allow users to create customised investigative workflows using plain-language inputs. This is expected to make blockchain intelligence more accessible to a wider range of users, including those without deep technical expertise.

A Data-Driven Approach

The technology leverages insights from around 10 million previous investigations conducted through Chainalysis Reactor, helping guide users towards relevant transactions and analytical methods. The company highlighted that the agents are designed to support comprehensive investigative standards rather than act as simple conversational tools.

The announcement follows a comparable launch by TRM Labs, which recently introduced AI-based assistants for tracing illicit funds and conducting audits. Together, these developments point to a growing race to integrate AI into crypto investigations as the sector evolves.
