The defence divisions of jet maker Bombardier and shipbuilder Fincantieri are expanding their production and sales in the Gulf, due to what the latter’s CEO, Pierroberto Folgiero, says is “a long-term geopolitical macro trend” of increased warfare fears.
Donald Trump‘s pressure on Nato countries to increase their defence spending has also resulted in nations “re-equipping their capabilities”, according to Bombardier CEO Éric Martel.
The UAE and Qatar took deliveries last year of both planes and boats and both companies expect more orders to come.
