Arbitrum Transactions Grow. What Does ARB Gain?

Arbitrum continues to process substantial transaction activity, but transaction counts alone cannot determine the benefit to ARB. DefiLlama’s dashboard, checked on October 22, 2026, displayed approximately 1.82 million transactions over 24 hours. Spot trading through decentralized exchanges on the network reached US$1.162 billion over seven days, up 12.02% from the preceding seven-day period. Source: DefiLlama’s Arbitrum dashboard.

These figures indicate network and application usage. They do not establish how many independent users participated or how much lasting economic value was created. Repeated transactions, automated activity, and system interactions can increase counts without a proportionate increase in revenue.

The connection to ARB requires a further distinction: Arbitrum One gas is paid in ETH, while ARB is a governance token. More transactions do not automatically require users to purchase ARB. The economic benefit needs to be traced through revenue, governance decisions, treasury use, and changes in token supply. Sources: Arbitrum gas documentation and the Arbitrum DAO glossary.

Cumulative Transactions Are Different from Daily Growth

Arbiscan’s transaction page displayed more than 2,906,589,427 transactions, approximately 2.91 billion cumulatively, when checked on October 22. That count covers indexed transactions across the network’s history, rather than transactions completed in a single day. Source: Arbitrum One transactions on Arbiscan.

Chainspect displayed a rounded cumulative figure of 2.4 billion during the same research check. The difference cannot be used to calculate growth because the providers have not been reconciled for coverage and counting methods. Treating the gap as newly generated activity would combine datasets that have not been shown to be comparable. Source: Chainspect’s Arbitrum dashboard.

Arbiscan’s transaction list also includes system entries labelled “Start Block” from ArbOS. Their presence illustrates why an explorer’s transaction total cannot directly measure user actions, let alone individual people. One address can execute many transactions, and one person can control several addresses.

Daily growth requires a consistent series, a stable definition, and a stated comparison date. A cumulative milestone gives historical scale but does not establish that the pace of activity is accelerating.

Trading Activity Increased While Stablecoin Supply Declined

Other indicators provide a mixed picture. DefiLlama showed higher weekly DEX volume alongside a seven-day decline in the market capitalization of stablecoins on Arbitrum.

This combination shows how trading can increase while stablecoin supply declines. The same capital can trade repeatedly and generate turnover, so higher volume does not require an equal amount of new capital.

A decline in stablecoin capitalization also does not identify every user’s motivation. It does not establish whether changes resulted from network transfers, redemptions, shifts in asset composition, or other needs. The supported conclusion is that growth was not uniform across the indicators.

How Network Activity Generates Fees

Arbitrum transactions consume computation and storage resources. Fees also include a component covering parent-chain resources, including data publication. Arbitrum’s documentation separates these components, which prevents the entire user fee from being treated as freely distributable surplus. Source: Arbitrum gas and fee documentation.

Transaction counts alone do not determine total fees collected. Different interactions consume different resources, while gas pricing and processing efficiency can change the average fee.

Consider an illustrative network processing one million transactions at an average user fee of US$0.02. Total user fees would be US$20,000. If transactions subsequently increased 20% to 1.2 million but the average fee fell to US$0.01, the total would become US$12,000.

The calculation is:

1,000,000 × US$0.02 = US$20,000.

1,200,000 × US$0.01 = US$12,000.

The example produces a 20% increase in transaction count alongside a 40% decline in total fees. All inputs are illustrative, not observed Arbitrum revenue or a forecast. Operating and data-publication costs have not been deducted.

Efficiency can benefit users through cheaper transactions. Token analysis needs to continue beyond usage to the resources remaining after network obligations and the mechanism connecting those resources to the token.

Four Tests for Assessing the Benefit to ARB

A token assessment needs evidence linking network use to demand or an economic benefit for holders. These four tests separate existing relationships from assumptions.

A. Whether Network Use Requires Buying the Token

ETH is the gas asset on Arbitrum One. Users can transact when they hold the assets required by their applications and sufficient gas funds, without every transaction requiring an ARB purchase.

ARB provides governance participation, including decisions concerning the protocol and treasury. The value of that function depends on the scope of those decisions and participants’ interest in the network. Higher transaction counts do not supply a direct formula for the token’s price. Source: Arbitrum DAO documentation.

B. Network Revenue Versus Application Revenue

Application fees differ from network fees. A lending or trading protocol can generate revenue for participants specified by its own design, while Arbitrum receives the relevant transaction-processing fees.

Application revenue should therefore not be assigned entirely to the DAO or ARB holders. Incentive and benefit-sharing programs also require examination of approved proposals and their implementation. A discussion in a governance forum is different from an operational program.

C. Changes in Tradable Supply

Demand needs to be compared with supply changes. Arbitrum’s documentation describes vesting schedules for team, contributor, and investor allocations, with periodic releases after the initial period. Treasury distributions can also affect the number of tokens available. Source: Arbitrum circulating-supply documentation.

An unlock does not establish that recipients immediately sell. It does make more tokens transferable, expanding recipients’ choices to sell, retain, or use their holdings. Actual pressure needs to be assessed through transactions and liquidity, rather than an unlock calendar alone.

D. Whether Usage Persists After Incentives Change

Sustained activity requires users to keep finding value when incentives change. Relevant checks include returning addresses, application diversity, borrowing demand, and recurring stablecoin use.

Active-address counts remain imperfect because addresses are not human identities. A stronger assessment combines indicators and checks whether activity is concentrated in a small set of contracts or address groups.

Connecting Network Data with ARB’s Price

Token prices can move differently from network activity because investors trade expectations about future demand, supply, and economic benefits.

A snapshot on MEXC’s ARB price page, timestamped October 22, 2026 at 8:25:01 a.m. WIB, displayed approximately US$0.19251 and a negative 2.07% change over 24 hours. It illustrates that substantial network activity does not guarantee a price increase over the same short window. The snapshot does not establish the cause of the decline.

Further assessment requires comparable observations: a price with a stated timestamp, network activity over an identified period, and supply changes across a relevant window. Comparing years of cumulative transactions with a one-day price move does not adequately test the relationship.

What Would Strengthen or Weaken the ARB Thesis?

The benefit to ARB becomes easier to evaluate when sustained usage is accompanied by measurable network economics and a clear token mechanism. Relevant evidence includes:

  • Daily transaction growth from a consistent series, separating system activity where possible.

  • Address retention and activity distributed across applications.

  • Network fees after accounting for relevant cost components.

  • Changes in stablecoins and liquidity, alongside trading turnover.

  • Implemented governance decisions affecting the token and treasury.

  • Circulating supply and transactions by recipients of unlocked tokens.

Arbitrum demonstrates substantial network use and higher weekly DEX volume. Assessing the benefit to ARB still requires an explainable economic connection. With gas paid in ETH and ARB centred on governance, investors need to establish how ecosystem growth reaches the token through decisions and mechanisms that are actually in effect.

Disclaimer: This article provides general analysis, not a recommendation to buy or sell ARB. Dashboard figures can change and may use different counting methods. Network activity, application revenue, and token-holder revenue are different measures. Calculations are illustrative.

DeFi Price Manipulation Attacks Hit 43 in 2026

DeFi price manipulation attacks have reached a new reported annual high in 2026, exposing persistent weaknesses in how decentralized financial protocols value assets, manage collateral, and respond to abnormal market conditions. According to DefiLlama data cited by RootData and other industry publications, 43 price manipulation incidents had been recorded by October 21, surpassing the previous full-year high of 27 incidents in 2022. Reported losses associated with the 2026 incidents totaled approximately $199 million, although their distribution reveals a more complex security picture than the headline count suggests
