“Sunday Night Football” is in Kansas City this weekend as the Lions vs. Chiefs play at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kickoff on Sunday is set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC, featuring play by play caller Mike Tirico, analyst Cris Collinsworth, sideline reporter Melissa Stark and rules analyst Terry McAulay.
Kansas City has a 9-6 all-time record against the Lions. The most recent matchup came on Sept. 7, 2023 when Detroit beat Kansas City, 21-20, in the NFL season-opener.
Despite having a 2-3 record heading into Week 6, the Chiefs are 2.5-point favorites at home against the Lions, according to FanDuel Sportsbook betting odds. Detroit holds a 4-1 mark this season and is in first place in the NFC North following four consecutive wins. The team lost to the Green Bay Packers, 27-13, in its season-opener on Sept. 7.
Lions quarterback Jared Goff, who is the No. 20 highest-paid athlete in the world per Forbes, has completed 109 of 145 passes for 1,187 yards during the 2025 regular season, making him the league leader in completion percentage (75.2%). The 30-year-old has thrown 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has completed almost 64% of his throws and has passed for 1,257 yards. He has eight touchdowns through the air and two interceptions.
Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, who Forbes estimates has a net worth of $70 million, has 22 catches for 243 yards and two touchdowns in the 2025 campaign.
Kelce and the NFL have benefitted from the 35-year-old’s relationship with music icon Taylor Swift, who recently released her new album “The Life of a Showgirl” and set a record for first-week album units. The NFL boasts an average per game viewership of 18.58 million through Week 5 of the current regular season — that’s the highest mark since 2010. Compared to 2024, average per game viewership is up 8% year-over-year.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Lions vs. Chiefs primetime matchup on Sunday, Detroit is the league’s third favorite (+750) to win Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium, per the most recent FanDuel Sportsbook betting odds. Kansas City is the fifth favorite at +1000 odds.
