TLDR

  • Prenetics pivots from Bitcoin to fuel IM8 as its core global growth engine forward
  • IM8 drives revenue momentum with strong demand across wellness markets
  • Capital shifts to operations, R&D and distribution for sustainable expansion
  • Board-backed realignment streamlines structure and accelerates execution
  • Treasury keeps 510 BTC as reserves while halting new crypto acquisitions

Prenetics shifted its strategy as it halted its daily Bitcoin purchases and redirected its full focus toward the fast-growing IM8 brand, and this move marked a major change in its capital plans. The company acted after reviewing market conditions, and Prenetics positioned IM8 as its main growth engine. The decision also reinforced a new structure that supported future expansion.

IM8 Growth Becomes Prenetics’ Central Priority

Prenetics redirected resources toward IM8 because the brand showed strong demand in the consumer wellness market. The company reported rapid gains in revenue, and IM8 reached significant annualized recurring sales in less than one year. Prenetics confirmed that its shift aimed to maintain momentum as the brand expanded in new regions.

The company backed the IM8 rollout with scaled operations, and this generated stronger visibility for upcoming product lines. Prenetics strengthened marketing plans as interest in longevity products grew, and it increased attention on global health trends. Furthermore, the company stated that additional capital would now support research, working capital, and wider distribution.

Prenetics moved to streamline its structure to speed execution, and the Board supported this realignment. The company emphasized that IM8 offered long-term value prospects, and it framed the strategy as a disciplined step. Prenetics positioned its management team to oversee future phases of the brand’s expansion.

Prenetics Ends Bitcoin Acquisition Plan After Market Shift

Prenetics stopped acquiring Bitcoin on December 4 as crypto prices retreated across the sector. The company changed course because the volatility reduced the appeal of the earlier digital-asset treasury model. Furthermore, Prenetics noted that the revised plan allowed clearer financial discipline.

The company entered the Bitcoin market in June, and the program mirrored approaches used by groups that accumulated digital tokens as reserve assets. Prenetics stepped back when demand for such models weakened, and multiple firms also revised similar strategies during the period. The downturn in token prices pressured many publicly traded entities with large holdings.

Prenetics retained its 510 Bitcoin as a treasury reserve, and it confirmed that no further purchases would occur. The company kept a strong balance sheet with cash, digital assets, and no debt. Additionally, Prenetics redirected capital allocation toward operations instead of asset accumulation.

Market Context Behind Prenetics’ Strategy Shift

Prenetics reassessed its digital-asset model as industry sentiment changed during late 2025. Crypto-focused firms saw their stock values fall below the value of their token reserves, and many companies repurchased shares to stabilize performance. Rising scrutiny pushed several groups to reconsider treasury strategies.

The broader digital-asset sector faced new pressurea nd this affected companies that once benefited from premium valuations. Prenetics recognized these challenges early, and it used the shift to pursue clearer priorities. , The company saw stronger returns in the consumer health category compared with crypto-linked strategies.

Prenetics concentrated on sustainable performance because IM8 continued attracting strong demand. The company balanced risk by emphasizing tangible growth channels, and it aimed to advance health innovation globally. Additionally, Prenetics confirmed that this transition aligned with long-term goals and stable expansion.

One of the key things I like to track in crypto is a subjective criterion I call “where are new interesting developments and proposals taking place.” There are plenty of dashboards and analytics sites for this, the most popular being the Electric Capital site. The issue is that it still shows Polkadot as having a lot of developers. (At Blockworks we solved the noise problem with active users; maybe we can try the same for active developers.) Because of this noise, I prefer to track two simple observations: What is the velocity of new products launching, and how much mindshare are these products capturing? Are many people getting nerdsniped into discussing the novelties and intricacies of the chain? A related point is the caliber of people being attracted to new ecosystems. For example, over the past few years, Solana (and Ethereum) attracted the majority of talent. Talent generally goes where: It can solve interesting problems or create interesting projects. It can make a lot of money. In a podcast I did with Icebergy about a year ago, we discussed how crypto still wasn’t attracting talent at the levels AI was, despite offering faster exits and more money. AI was (and probably still is) more interesting to most talent and seen as more prestigious. After FTX, crypto lost a lot of credibility and has only recently started recovering as larger institutional players re-entered. Apart from FTX, crypto has also been criticized for being full of low-effort forks and limited utility products. This dynamic isn’t unique to crypto though. Many AI companies are also just building wrappers around GPT, which is as uninteresting as some projects in crypto. Anyway, to the point: Historically, Solana has captured the majority of…
