BNB Chain has taken the lead in ERC-8004 AI agent deployments, holding nearly 40% of total activity as the ecosystem approaches 100,000 agents across all networks.
According to data from CryptoRank, as of March 17, 2026, BNB Chain hosts 39,072 ERC-8004 AI agents, representing 39.9% of the total deployment across tracked networks. Base ranks second with 19,273 agents and a 19.7% share. Ethereum sits third at 14,467 agents, capturing 14.8% of the market.
That gap is not marginal. BNB Chain’s count exceeds the combined totals of Base and Ethereum by roughly 5,300 agents. For a standard ranked by decentralization credentials, Ethereum’s third-place position is the more consequential data point here.
Below the top three, the distribution flattens significantly. Others collectively account for 8,550 agents, or 8.8% of total deployments. Monad holds 8,339 agents at 8.5%, while MegaETH records 8,131 at 8.3%.
Those three categories are within 400 agents of each other. The mid-tier is effectively deadlocked. None of them are positioned to challenge Base in the near term without a material acceleration in deployment activity.
The total across all five named networks plus the Others category comes to approximately 97,832 agents. The ecosystem is close to, but has not yet confirmed, the 100,000 milestone.
ERC-8004 is the token standard designed specifically for on-chain AI agents, defining how autonomous agents are registered, identified, and interact with smart contracts. Market share in agent deployments is an early proxy for developer preference and infrastructure readiness.
BNB Chain’s dominance here runs counter to its historical positioning as a DeFi and retail trading chain. Capturing nearly 40% of a nascent AI agent standard signals deliberate ecosystem development, not passive accumulation.
Whether that lead holds as the market matures is a separate question. Early standards often see redistribution as tooling improves on competing chains. The current data shows where developers are building. It does not confirm where they will stay.
