Caught Stealing, a crime caper starring Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz from director Darren Aronofsky, is coming soon to streaming on Netflix.
Rated R, Caught Stealing opened in theaters on Aug. 29 and made its debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Sept. 30. The official summary for Caught Stealing reads, “Hank Thompson (Butler) was a high-school baseball phenom who can’t play anymore, but everything else is going okay. He’s got a great girl (Kravitz), tends bar at a New York dive and his favorite team is making an underdog run at the pennant.
“When his punk-rock neighbor Russ (Matt Smith) asks him to take care of his cat for a few days, Hank suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a motley crew of threatening gangsters. They all want a piece of him; the problem is, he has no idea why. As Hank attempts to evade their ever-tightening grip, he’s got to use all his hustle to stay alive long enough to find out …”
Caught Stealing will make its streaming video on demand premiere on Netflix on Saturday, Nov. 29, according to a new listing on the platform.
For viewers who don’t have a subscription to Netflix, the platform has an ad-based package that costs $7.99 per month for viewing on two supported devices and an ad-free package for $17.99 per month for viewing on two supported devices.
In addition, the platform offers an ad-free package for $24.99 per month for four supported devices with 4K Ultra HD programming.
How Did ‘Caught Stealing’ Perform At The Box Office?
During its theatrical run, Caught Stealing made $19 million domestically and $9.3 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $28.3 million. Caught Stealing had a $40 million production budget before prints and advertising costs, according to Variety.
Caught Stealing earned an 84% “fresh” score from Rotten Tomatoes based on 246 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus for the film reads, “A freewheeling throwback, Caught Stealing splendidly showcases Austin Butler’s movie star charisma while marking a surprisingly lighthearted gearshift for director Darren Aronofsky.”
Caught Stealing also earned an 83% “fresh” rating on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 1,000-plus verified user ratings. The RT audience summary for the movie reads, “A diverting, pulpy caper with ‘90s flair, Caught Stealing is a gritty, violent ride fueled by the charisma of Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz.”
Also starring Regina King, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Benito Martínez Ocasio (aka Bad Bunny), Griffin Dunne and Carol Kane, Caught Stealing will arrive on Netflix on Nov. 29.
