Baltimore Sues Kalshi and Polymarket Over Allegedly Unlicensed Sports Prediction Platforms
According to Cointelegraph, the City of Baltimore and Mayor Brendan Scott have sued Kalshi and Polymarket, alleging that the two companies violated local gambling laws and deceptive business practice regulations by operating “illegal, unlicensed sports prediction platforms.” The complaint against Kalshi also names Robinhood, Webull, and Coinbase as related partners. The CFTC and the companies involved argue that prediction market event contracts are federally regulated “swaps” and should not be subject to state or local restrictions.
Wintermute Plans to Invest Approximately $1 Billion in AI and High-Frequency Trading Over Five Years, With Non-Crypto Revenue to Exceed 50% by 2027
According to Bitcoin.com News, Wintermute plans to invest approximately $1 billion over the next five years in AI infrastructure and high-frequency trading systems while expanding into equities, commodities, foreign exchange, and prediction markets. The company aims to increase the share of revenue generated by non-crypto businesses to more than 50% by the end of 2027, compared with approximately 10% currently. The investments will cover computing, storage, networking, and data center infrastructure and will be funded through retained earnings. Wintermute’s average daily trading volume this year is approximately $10 billion, down from around $15 billion last year.
SEC Further Delays Tokenization Innovation Exemption, With Details Still Undisclosed
According to a post on X by a Fox Business crypto reporter, a person familiar with the matter said the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s tokenization innovation exemption will be delayed further, with details remaining undisclosed for now. One possible reason is that the tokenization provisions in Section 10505 of the Clarity Act remain under negotiation among stakeholders. Any action taken by the SEC through an innovation exemption could affect the existing compromise. The exemption may therefore remain on hold until the legislative path of the Clarity Act becomes clearer.
Robinhood Chain Nears $1 Billion in TVL, With Uniswap Providing Nearly All Liquidity
According to Cointelegraph, Robinhood Chain’s total value locked is approaching $1 billion, with nearly all its liquidity provided by Uniswap V2, V3, and V4. After the Robinhood-related fee switch was activated on July 27, UNI’s annualized burn rate reached approximately $90 million. At a price of around $3.50 per token, this equals approximately 25 million UNI burned annually, representing slightly more than 4% of the circulating supply. Robinhood Chain launched on July 1 and reached 194,000 daily active users during its first week.

According to Tether News, Tether has completed a full independent audit by KPMG U.S. of the financial statements of Tether International, S.A. de C.V. as of December 31, 2025, receiving an unqualified audit opinion. KPMG U.S. also physically counted and inspected every gold bar held by Tether. The audited financial statements showed that Tether’s reserve assets exceeded its liabilities by $6.814 billion.

According to Bloomberg, World Liberty Financial and its partners have postponed the sale of a digital token linked to a Trump-branded resort in the Maldives. Ethereum L1 Abandons Poseidon Hash Function, Shifting to SHA2 or BLAKE2 for Post-Quantum Cryptography Roadmap
According to a post on X by Ethereum Foundation core researcher Justin Drake, Ethereum L1 will no longer use Poseidon, the SNARK-friendly hash function that has dominated its design direction since 2019. Instead, the network will shift toward conventional hash functions such as SHA2 or BLAKE2s. The Ethereum Foundation’s post-quantum team plans to deploy a production-grade leanVM in 2027, followed by implementation across the consensus, execution, and data layers in 2028.
