For years, the stablecoin market has had an obvious imbalance: plenty of blockchain dollars, far fewer blockchain euros.

Revolut is trying to narrow that gap.

The fintech company is rolling out EURR, a euro-denominated stablecoin designed to maintain a value of €1. The initial rollout is limited, but the more interesting part of the story is not another token ticker appearing on a blockchain.

It is the distribution channel behind it.

Revolut already sits between conventional bank money, foreign exchange, payments and crypto for millions of customers. EURR attempts to put a euro-denominated blockchain asset inside that same experience.

Summary

Revolut EURR is a euro-pegged stablecoin being introduced initially to eligible customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal.

EURR is issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Stripe company, rather than directly by Revolut itself. Revolut says the token is designed to maintain a stable value of €1 and facilitate movement between fiat money, crypto, external wallets and supported blockchain networks.

The rollout is particularly noteworthy because euro stablecoins remain much smaller than their dollar-denominated counterparts.

There is also an important naming issue: another euro stablecoin called StablR Euro already uses the ticker EURR. Readers should therefore distinguish Revolut EURR from StablR Euro (EURR).

So, What Is Revolut EURR?

The easiest way to understand EURR is to start with what it is not.

It is not a new euro.

It is not a cryptocurrency intended to appreciate against the euro.

And despite the convenient shorthand “Revolut's stablecoin,” Revolut is not technically the issuer.

EURR is a euro-denominated e-money token issued by Bridge Building S.A. and offered through Revolut's European digital-asset business.

Its intended value is straightforward:

1 EURR ≈ €1

That makes it fundamentally different from volatile cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. The point of the product is price stability relative to the euro, not capital appreciation.

Who Issues EURR?

This detail is easy to miss.

Revolut says EURR is issued by Bridge Building S.A., part of Stripe's Bridge business.

Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd offers the token to eligible customers.

That distinction matters because stablecoins involve several different roles that are often casually compressed into the word “issuer.”

One company can provide the customer-facing app. Another can legally issue the token. Blockchain networks provide the infrastructure on which it moves.

Knowing who performs each role is much more useful than simply asking which company's logo appears in the app.

Where Is EURR Available?

The rollout is deliberately narrow at first.

Eligible Revolut customers in:

Initial marketRollout status
DenmarkPhased testing
PolandPhased testing
PortugalPhased testing

are the first group being given access.

Revolut has said wider availability is expected later in 2026.

That means readers outside those markets should not assume that EURR is already available in their account simply because the product has been announced.

What Can People Actually Do With It?

This is where EURR becomes more interesting than a conventional token launch.

Revolut describes the stablecoin as an on-chain bridge connecting different forms of money.

A customer could potentially move from euros held in a conventional financial account into euro-denominated value that can operate on supported blockchain rails, then interact with crypto or external wallets without first converting into a dollar stablecoin.

For a European user, that removes an extra currency decision.

Suppose someone earns and spends in euros but wants to transfer value on-chain. Using a dollar stablecoin introduces USD/EUR exposure. Even if the stablecoin itself remains perfectly pegged to one dollar, its euro value still changes when the foreign-exchange rate moves.

A euro stablecoin avoids that particular mismatch.

Why Euro Stablecoins Have a Different Use Case From Dollar Stablecoins

Stablecoins are often discussed as though they were a single asset class.

From a user's perspective, the currency denomination matters enormously.

A dollar stablecoin is useful for someone who wants digital dollars. A euro stablecoin is useful for someone who wants digital euros.

The distinction becomes especially relevant for:

  • euro-denominated accounting;

  • payments between European users;

  • treasury management;

  • on-chain settlement;

  • transfers where users do not want USD/EUR currency exposure.

The dollar's dominance in crypto means USD stablecoins still enjoy much deeper liquidity across the global market.

EURR does not change that overnight.

What it does show is that stablecoin competition is beginning to move beyond “which digital dollar wins?” toward a broader question: which currencies will people actually want to move on-chain?

How MiCA Fits Into the EURR Story

Europe now has a dedicated regulatory framework for crypto assets under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, better known as MiCA.

Stablecoins pegged to official currencies can fall within MiCA's e-money-token framework.

Revolut describes EURR as a euro-pegged e-money token. It states that Bridge Building S.A. is regulated by Luxembourg's CSSF and that Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd operates as a MiCA crypto-asset service provider regulated by Cyprus's CySEC.

This regulatory context matters because Europe's stablecoin market has changed significantly as MiCA requirements have taken effect.

MEXC has previously covered that transition in its analysis of MiCA enforcement and the resulting fragmentation of European stablecoin liquidity.

EURR represents the other side of that regulatory story.

MiCA is not only forcing market participants to reconsider existing stablecoins. It is also creating a framework within which new euro-denominated products are being developed.

Do Not Confuse Revolut EURR With StablR Euro

There is an unusually important ticker problem here.

Revolut EURR and StablR Euro (EURR) are not the same product.

MEXC already has information pages for StablR Euro, which also uses the EURR ticker.

Anyone researching the new Revolut product should therefore verify the issuer and contract information rather than relying on the ticker alone.

NameIdentifier used in marketKey distinction
Revolut EURREURRIssued by Bridge Building S.A. and distributed through Revolut
StablR EuroEURRSeparate euro-backed stablecoin project

Duplicate tickers are not unique to crypto, but blockchain users need to be especially careful because sending or purchasing the wrong token can have real financial consequences.

A ticker symbol alone is never sufficient verification.

Is EURR Available on Ethereum and Polygon?

The initial EURR implementation has been reported as supporting Ethereum and Polygon.

That makes practical sense: both networks already have established stablecoin infrastructure and wallet support.

Still, users should verify supported networks inside the relevant service before transferring funds. Stablecoin availability can differ by jurisdiction, platform and network, and unsupported transfers may result in loss of funds.

Could EURR Challenge Dollar Stablecoins?

That is probably the wrong benchmark, at least initially.

The structural advantage enjoyed by dollar stablecoins is enormous. They have deeper exchange liquidity, broader trading-pair support and an established role as crypto's primary settlement currency.

EURR does not need to replace digital dollars to be useful.

Its more realistic opportunity is to make euro-denominated blockchain money convenient enough that European users no longer need a dollar token for every on-chain activity.

That is a narrower ambition, but potentially a meaningful one.

Why Revolut's Distribution Matters

Crypto has produced many technically functional stablecoins that struggled to reach ordinary users.

Distribution can be harder than issuance.

Revolut already provides payments, currency exchange and crypto services through a consumer application. Integrating a stablecoin into an existing financial interface changes the onboarding equation.

A customer does not necessarily need to discover an unfamiliar crypto protocol first. The blockchain product can instead appear as another way of moving money inside a financial service they already use.

If stablecoins eventually become commonplace in consumer finance, that model may prove more important than the launch of any individual token.

FAQ

What is Revolut EURR?

EURR is a euro-pegged stablecoin offered through Revolut and designed to maintain a value of €1.

Does Revolut issue EURR?

Technically, no. Revolut states that EURR is issued by Bridge Building S.A., a Stripe company, and offered through Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd.

Where is Revolut EURR available?

The initial phased rollout covers eligible customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal, with wider availability expected later.

Is Revolut EURR the same as StablR Euro EURR?

No. They are separate products that happen to use the same ticker. Users should check the full asset name, issuer, blockchain and contract details rather than relying on “EURR” alone.

Why use a euro stablecoin instead of a dollar stablecoin?

Someone whose income, expenses or accounting are denominated in euros may prefer to keep blockchain-based value linked to the euro rather than introduce USD/EUR exchange-rate exposure.

Is EURR guaranteed to stay at exactly €1?

Stablecoins are designed to maintain their reference value, but they still carry issuer, reserve, operational, liquidity, regulatory and technical risks. A target peg should never be interpreted as a risk-free guarantee.
