Why Is DASH Price Rising? 24H Gain Outpaces Major Privacy Coins

DASH price rose sharply on October 23, outperforming several larger privacy-focused cryptocurrencies. According to DASH price data on MEXC, the token traded at approximately $53.83 as of 21:54 (UTC+8), up 7.25% over 24 hours and 1.56% in the previous hour.

DASH moved between $49.47 and $55.92 during the same 24-hour period. The stronger performance was not matched across the entire privacy coin sector. Separate MEXC market snapshots showed ZEC down 0.61% and XMR down 0.74% during their respective 24-hour windows.

The divergence matters. DASH is benefiting from renewed interest in crypto privacy, but the latest move looks more like capital rotating into a lagging privacy-linked asset than a sector-wide breakout.

DASH Is Catching Up Rather Than Leading a Broad Rally

Privacy-focused cryptocurrencies have attracted considerable speculative capital in recent months, particularly after ZEC’s earlier surge. When the strongest asset in a narrative pauses, short-term traders often move toward smaller tokens that have not yet recorded comparable gains.

DASH fits that profile. Its market capitalization stood at approximately $693 million on the MEXC price page, substantially below those of ZEC and XMR. This smaller valuation means that a relatively modest change in demand can have a larger effect on price.

However, rotation-driven gains behave differently from rallies supported by a major new adoption event. Capital can enter quickly when traders identify a lagging asset, but it may also leave quickly if the sector leader weakens or the expected follow-through fails to appear.

Calling the move a privacy coin “explosion” would therefore overstate the evidence. DASH is rising, but the sector’s largest assets were not advancing at the same time.

Dash Platform 5.0 Gives Traders a Timely Catalyst

The price move also comes shortly before a planned network update.

According to the Dash development team, Dash Platform 5.0 is scheduled for release on October 26. The update has been running on testnet since October 15 and is expected to introduce private token pools, application fees, sponsored gas and several changes to data contracts.

The release alone will not immediately activate every feature on the main network. More than 67% of eligible evonodes must signal readiness before the new protocol can lock in. If that threshold is reached on schedule, protocol version 14 is expected to activate on November 8.

This creates a familiar event-driven setup: traders may buy before the release, anticipating increased attention as the upgrade approaches. It also introduces execution risk. A delayed rollout, insufficient node support or limited early usage could weaken the current enthusiasm.

Privacy Is Becoming More Relevant to the Dash Investment Case

DASH has long been associated with private payments, although its original CoinJoin-based system differs from privacy-by-default networks. Its investment narrative has also included fast settlement, payments and decentralized governance.

That positioning began to change more clearly in August, when the project announced that shielded transactions were live on the Dash Evolution mainnet. The system uses technology based on Zcash’s Orchard protocol to conceal balances, senders and recipients within the shielded pool.

Platform 5.0 is expected to extend this direction by allowing tokens issued on Dash Platform to have their own shielded pools. In theory, this gives DASH exposure to a broader privacy application story rather than limiting the asset to private transfers of its native coin.

The distinction between available technology and actual adoption remains important. The project has demonstrated that shielded infrastructure exists, but traders still need evidence that wallets, applications and users are actively using it.

MEXC’s View: The Upgrade Explains the Timing, but Rotation Explains the Speed

MEXC’s view is that DASH’s latest rise reflects two overlapping trades.

The approaching Platform 5.0 release gives buyers a credible, time-specific catalyst. At the same time, DASH’s lower valuation and association with the privacy narrative make it a natural target for traders seeking the next asset to follow earlier sector leaders.

The second factor probably explains why the price accelerated faster than the underlying development news alone would suggest. Platform 5.0 was announced before the latest trading session, so the sudden move cannot automatically be attributed entirely to new technical information.

The clearest confirmation would be broader participation: sustained DASH demand after the upgrade, measurable shielded-pool activity and renewed strength across other privacy assets. If DASH loses momentum while ZEC and XMR remain weak, the move would look increasingly like a short-lived single-token rotation.

Traders seeking derivatives exposure can access the verified DASH/USDT perpetual futures market on MEXC. Futures involve leverage, funding and liquidation risks that do not apply in the same way to spot holdings.

What Could Determine DASH’s Next Move?

The first variable is whether DASH can retain its gains after the initial rotation. A rapid return toward the lower end of its recent trading range would suggest that buyers were primarily chasing momentum.

The second is the Platform 5.0 rollout. Traders should watch whether enough evonodes signal support, whether the activation follows the published schedule and whether shielded token functionality becomes usable outside controlled demonstrations.

The third is sector confirmation. If ZEC, XMR and other privacy-linked assets begin rising alongside DASH, the market would have stronger evidence of a broader capital rotation. Without that confirmation, DASH remains an isolated outperformer rather than proof of a sector-wide rally.

FAQ

Is DASH price rising today?
Yes. MEXC market data showed DASH up 7.25% over 24 hours at approximately $53.83 as of October 23 at 21:54 (UTC+8). Cryptocurrency prices change continuously.

Why is DASH rising?
The move appears to combine speculative rotation into a lower-valued privacy-linked asset with anticipation surrounding the planned Dash Platform 5.0 release. There is not yet enough evidence to attribute the entire gain to a single catalyst.

Is the whole privacy coin sector rising?
Not at the time of the comparison. MEXC market pages showed ZEC and XMR slightly lower over their respective 24-hour periods while DASH gained more than 7%.

Is DASH a privacy coin?
DASH offers optional privacy features and has introduced an Orchard-based shielded pool on Dash Platform. However, its network also emphasizes payments, fast settlement and decentralized governance, so describing it only as a privacy coin leaves out part of the project’s design.

Risk Warning

DASH remains highly volatile, and gains driven by narrative rotation can reverse rapidly. The Platform 5.0 schedule is conditional on network participation, while technical availability does not guarantee user adoption. Futures trading adds leverage, funding-rate and liquidation risks.
